Drought Hits Wingham Golf Club

SEPTEMBER 2019

The club is currently experiencing its worst drought in almost 30 years. The fairways are brown and dusty, the greens and tees are being hand-watered with what little dam water we have left, and all players now are being asked to "tee up" through the course or play off mats of artificial turf.

The 3 photos show graphically the impact of the drought on the course. The attached PDF file contains almost 50 additional photos so that the club will have a permanent visual record of the current devastation.

Photos from 5 DECEMBER 2019 have been added as an update. Playing off mats has been compulsory for the past couple of months and has helped to save the course.
