GARAGE SALE

Our day was a success and we raised $2348 dollars towards the upgrade of the old pro shop.

Thankyou to all those members and friends who donated the huge variety of goods we were able to offer for sale.

As usual our Greenkeeper Hendo and his band of volunteers went above and beyond , allowing us to use the machinery shed and surrounds to host the sale and helping out whenever there was a need.

Special thanks to the following people who offered their services on the day:

Suzie Race, Beth Braham, Jan Ditton, Janice Surtees, Ashley and Debbie Stewart, Vicki Schubert, Di Thompson, Adam Ward, Allan Skinner, Rod Brown, Victor Hile, Graham and Lesley Steel.

Joy White and Trish Van Hoff did an outstanding job on the BBQ raising $318.70 cooking sausages donated by E.J's bistro. As usual Pottsy did us a good deal with the bread.

It is a great credit to our club that we have so many willing volunteers and members who want to see our club "be the best it can be." THANKYOU EVERYONE!

WINGHAM GOLFER HAS AMAZING WIN

CONGRATULATIONS REID BROWN

Reid's recent hot form has continued with  a win in the Shelley Beach (Central Coast) Open Amateur Vardon event.

This week Reid also played in the Port Macquqrie Pro-Am. The field consisted of both professional and amateur golfers. Reid won the amateur section by several shots finishing 5 under for the 36 holes. The winning pro was 7 under, with Reid finishing second overall. He beat every other Pro Golfer in the process.

What a wonderful effort!

Reid had a good warm up to the Pro AM with a 6 under par round for 9 holes in the Thursday Chook Run last week. This is a Wingham club record for 9 holes.

Congratulations Reid!

GOLF NSW CEO VISITS WINGHAM GOLF CLUB:

September 5-7:

CEO of Golf NSW, Stuart Fraser, visited Wingham Golf Club on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th September.

Stuart had accepted an invitation from the club to help it take advantage of the Golf NSW Club Support Service, which was launched in July 2014 to assist and advise affiliated golf clubs in need of expert assistance in key areas of their business operations.

The service is designed to “help Clubs optimise their day-to-day operations, which will ultimately result in more people playing more golf," Stuart said. “Operating our club according to best practice principles so that we can ensure that we are the best club we can be” will ensure the future sustainability of our club.

Almost 30 club members attended a 3-hour presentation by Stuart on Thursday 6th September commencing at 8.30am where Stuart outlined ideas and resources available through NSW Golf to address and support the implementation of our Strategic Plan, which he said was very good.

He outlined the roles of club support officers in the areas of Club Operations, Agronomy and Government Grants and provided advice around the implementation of our Strategic Plan which he said was very comprehensive.

Stuart later met specifically with board members to discussed matters specifically relevant to the governance of the club.

People were amazed with the knowledge and advice shared by Stuart and were excited to take up the challenge of enhancing the financial health of the club.

After playing a round of golf, Stuart said that it was great to “experience first-hand the great culture that exists at Wingham Golf Club.”
